Kentucky Heartwood seeks to protect and restore the integrity, stability, and beauty of Kentucky’s native forests and biotic communities through research, education, advocacy, and community engagement.
charity: water is a nonprofit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Since 2006, charity: water has funded more than 28,000 water projects around the world to help 8.2 million people get access to clean water, hygiene and improved sanitation.
Love146 is an international human rights organization working to end child trafficking and exploitation through survivor care and prevention. The trafficking and exploitation of children is one of the darkest stories and most severe human rights abuses imaginable. Love146 is helping grow the movement to end child trafficking while providing effective, thoughtful solutions.
Navajo Water Project
“Navajo are 67 times more likely than other Americans to live without running water or a toilet. Many Natives can’t get enough clean water, creating a cycle of poverty that limits health, happiness, educational opportunity, and economic security.” The Navajo population numbered 147k in 2010. Of that, 40% of the families live without running water, 44% of their children living in poverty.
