On going solo
I’m self-taught. What does that mean? It means I am ready to go back to school and get the piece of paper I am required to have to prove to everyone that know what I am talking about.
Over the last 20 years freelance work I have been blessed with some pretty incredible and resourceful clients. I’ve never needed to advertise, not once. All of my business has been by word of mouth. I have never had my own domain, till now and despite speedbumps I have never felt more confident.
I recently revamped my logo. I have had a web site for quite some time now on Geocities but have outgrown it. The look worked for a while but my web design skills are much more advanced and my style, as always, has refined itself since then. Change is good though not always easy and it was time that I evolved and re-evaluated myself.
Renmeleon.com, my new domain is a lifetime dream for me. Plans for the site include…
– free downloads
– Renlog a personal weblog and RSS feed to incorporate this blog
– client profiles
– merchant links to places where you can acquire your very own Renmeleon art
– a gallery section for commissioned pieces and sold art
– a calendar of appearances, festivals, giveaways and events, online and in the world
One of the most exciting features for me already is the Renmeleon forum. The forum area will be full of projects and discussion areas to promote full interactivity in the site. Though the new site is not “live” yet, please feel free to register for the forums. There are a few things posted already but I will be sending out a forum email to let everyone know when the site goes live and will of course be announcing it on the forums.
I am still learning so the site will evolve as my skills do. I rely on feedback from clients and peers alike to refine my products and my site. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to contribute.
