Chunky Book project page

One of my fellow artists took on creating a Chunky Book. Twenty artists including myself made 20 pages each and mailed them in to form a book. You can view the finished book here at Ephemeral Alchemy.

The Life is a Museum entry was 3-dimensional (the color portion is raised) piece. I will have framed prints available of the full version of this piece and it will be one of the showings at the Spanish Springs Starbuck’s in the Villages soon. The Starbuck’s in Sumter Landing has also granted me wall space so I am just playing catchup. hehe

[Art Call] Artistamp Album Pages

Have a ton of older artistamps you want to use? Have new designs you want to show off? Love getting books in the mail?

This call is for whole album pages for an album. Everyone makes a page, I bind and embellish the book and you get a book back with everyone’s pages in it!

Everyone needs to make 20 pages. Pages are to be 4.25″ inches wide by 5.5″ inches tall; half a standard (8.5×11) sheet of paper, you can fit two per page). Please leave half an inch at the left for binding; total art space is 3.75″ x 5.5″. If you do not leave the half inch on the left side blank, I cannot bind your page into the album.

The cutoff for groups is 20 people (19 including me). If we get a good response there will be more than one group. I will be posting documentation and the album online after the albums have been mailed back.

Each album will be 20 pages and, due to the size of the album, binding and shipping will be $10.00 so you will need to include $10 in with your submission. You can also use PayPal for this and send it to renmeleon@earthlink.net if it makes it any easier. If we have less than 20 people the book will be sized accordingly and I will adjust the binding/shipping cost.

Make your own page, use your favorite quotes, add your own embellishments to the page, etc. Any theme! You can show off your issuing authority if you have a ficticious land or character. Use pockets, beads, wire, ribbon, stamps, artistamps, anything you want. If you use glitter PLEASE make sure it is glued down and warn me ahead of time. LOL Make this fun! As long as you leave half an inch at the left side for binding you can do anything you want. Please keep in mind that pages need to be relatively flat though since they are being bound into a book.

Signup ends November 15th. Signup by emailing me at renmeleon@gmail.com with “Artistamp Album Call” in the subject line. I will post a list of participants here and on my website’s forums. If you have questions, please reply to this post here or email me.

Mail me your finished pages by November 25th. Your submissions must be postmakred no later than Nov 25th for me to be able to get them back to everyone in a timely manner due to the Christmas season coming up. Mail all pages to me at this address:

John Lennon Commemorative Swap

Glitz Kat posted a John Lennon Commemorative artistamp call to the AML list last month and I had too many ideas and not enough time to play with all of them. One Beatles song in particular started running through my brain and my mind snagged on one line of the lyrics that I couldn’t ignore.

“People say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one…”
– Imagine, John Lennon

One month later, due mostly to health issues and general chaos, I finally got my piece finished today and prepped to be mailed out. It was a lot of fun to make and I still have other ideas that I had to eliminate one by one from the standpoints of time and practicality. For now though they are backburned on index cards in my Idea Box for further play later.

Thank you to all the wonderful pieces I got in the mail! My scanner just died but was thankfully under warranty so I will be scanning and adding them here later this week to share with everyone. For now though, here’s a teaser photograph of mine for everyone on the swap list who is getting one in the mail. hehe I did a limited edition of 12 of the glasses so they are all spoken for but I have more of the stamps if anyone would like one; specify if you want black & white or color.
