The 2009 Calendars are here!

The first of the 2009 Calendars, in this case a small preview of my book The Painted Hand: An Artful Life in Paint and Paper, is up for grabs on Lulu. A collection of some of your favorite collage pieces as well as a few snippets of creative writing will keep you company for 12 months throughout the coming year. Come take a look!

Rooster Rocket Retired

Yes, it’s true. My Red Riveted Rooster Rocket business cards have finally been retired…

Out with the old...

They had a long run and were very popular but, though I still do children’s book illustration, my style focus has shifted and I needed something to reflect that. I have also been doing a great deal of writing lately, both on my novel (one of them) and with the local writer’s group that I run, so I wanted to incorporate that somehow as well.

...in with the new.

The text is from what is now chapter three of the novel for my Odonatia project. I am going to be using the month of November, NaNoWriMo, to complete the manuscript and begin editing in December. I am looking to publish in the first half of 2009 so I am really excited. The few individuals who have been privy to my writing have been sitting on the edge of their seat waiting patiently for the final read. They are my cheering squad and my whip crackers so it has been fun.

Need your votes!

My design, Inner Workings, has been approved and is up for a vote! If it wins it will be made into a t-shirt and I will get prizes. (not sure what they are will look hehe)

T-shirt Designs

Recently found Threadless online, a great resource for artists wanting to break into doing t-shirt designs. I say great resource because it allows you to post your designs and get feedback from the community of artists there. I have been going through some of my older designs, designs that I wanted to rework into new ideas, and I posted my first one last night on the site for critique.

Here is the second one of many to come, and I could use YOUR help by voting. Just click on the image below to go to the Threadless site to vote!

I would love to hear from you all and get your feedback on the designs that I post. I have also posted the design on my Flickr account but the voting on the Threadless site determines whether or not the shirt actually becomes a reality…so, please, VOTE! :)

New digital collage

I’m on a Nick Bantock kick lately, his collages running amuck through my brain. Needed a new graphic for the front door for Autumn Moon Paper, one of my clients, so I started playing around with her product, in this case some of the collage sheets she has available. See what you think…

More coming soon. I feel a line of notecards coming on…

Collaborative Zine, only 5 left!

We posted 16 on Etsy last night and are down to 5 already so my apologies as I had no idea it was going to sell out so fast! WOOT

http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=216043

Each of the 30 covers is hand-rendered on handmade paper.

I just finished working on a collaborative zine with 6 other female artists for Etsy’s Coproduction Contest. We all met online and are all from very different walks of life and parts of the world. I was asked to do the cover art and help out with a couple other things, like the contributor’s page. I am viewing the whole contest as a marketing promotion, so I am not sure how they are judging the whole thing: whether it’s by a) hits, traffic generated on Etsy, b) money generated for Etsy in sales, or c) new Etsy sellers joining to be part of the competition.

I have a shop on Etsy as well now: http://renmeleon.etsy.com

I will be posting more items there soon, for now I have my Monster notecards featuring “Nishna”. :)
