Autism, by ASA’s definition, is “a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills.”
Blog crawling, my trainwreck of a hobby that I cannot seem to stop doing, I found this online and you have to see it to believe it: Rome, by Stephen Wiltshire.

“You haven’t heard that song yet? Oh, I forgot you don’t listen to radio.”
I get that a lot.
I work from home and, like a lot of us, have all my music loaded onto my computer so I don’t really use my stereo anymore. If I want music while I work it is right here, at the click of a button. I am a fan of NPR but had even gotten away from listening to that. I have gotten back into collecting music again though and I have found two really incredible sites online.
Pandora Internet Radio
Ever wanted to play DJ on your own radio station? How about 100 radio stations? How about free? Part of the Music Genome Project, Pandora Internet Radio allows you to do just that. I am a newbie there so the list is growing but you can see what my favorites are so far…
Do you like being able to download individual songs or full albums? Legally? Had you ever been able to buy a full album for $2.00 and be able to download it as a burnable, CD quality mp3?
Look no further.
I was on the hunt for some really obscure music for a friend and stumbled on this site. Since then I have added several albums and songs to my collection that I would not have been able to otherwise afford. AND I don’t have to worry about getting sued because they make sure the artists get paid. I can burn it all to disk and take them it with me or just have backups for what I have on my pc or iPod.
Hardly new news but more than worth checking out. Art*O*Mat recycles retired cigarette vending machines by converting them into art vending machines, giving them new life and new purpose. There are active machines in various locations throughout the country.
Submission guidelines are here: http://www.artomat.org/guidelines.html
I would like to eventually form a group of people who would be interested in working on a collaborative deck. I was thinking more along the lines of a larger format tarot deck but one for the purpose of submitting it to Art*O*Mat or for retail through Renmeleon.com would also be an option.
In the case of the latter idea I would also take advantage of this and buy extra boxes so that everyone who participated, including myself, got their own box. To participate in the project I would like to ask 5.00 be included in the package with your submissions to cover the cost of my shipping the assembled packages back to you all. I did an art tag book project years ago; we all sent our tags with 5 bucks to the project host who was making the books. The final book was a blast.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are in need of self-promotion, this is a fantastic outlet for it. You can create small sample pieces with miniature promotional information included (i.e. mini brochures, order form, business card, etc). You could also approach your local museums and coffeehouses, etc and see if they would install one. You could also explore the idea of gathering local artists in your area to do a completely local art vending machine! (subject to submission acceptance and permission from Art*O*Mat of course)
A link came across a list I am on today and I have not been able to stop thinking about it. I have a serious case of faeries on the brain and think that art will be my only remedy.
I awarded him the Renmeleon Chameleon Award for “Exceptionally Inventive Artistry” (understatement) and I am completely enthralled by his work. My favorite, and the one that is currently fueling my creative fire, is this one. Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. :)
The level of interaction passerbys are having with the whole concept is wonderful. I am sad to see, however, that he has actually had an issue with people purposefully damaging his creations. I am convinced, or possibly hoping, there is a special place in hell for art vandals. LOL The idea that someone would intend malice for these precious little creations is just mind-boggling.
I have already started sketching out ideas for making a faery door for my daughter’s room (and one for in my studio I think hehe). Growing up I used to love building miniatures and shadow-boxed dioramas complete with lights. The sketches I am doing right now won’t go into production for a while but I will keep everyone posted.
…I think it needs an artistamp for a wall painting. hehe
